ibm skills workshops for small charities

We are delighted to announce a special one-off return of the highly successful skills workshops for small charities series, in partnership with IBM.
TBC - SWANSEA - Introduction to Project Management - POSTPONED
why ibm and why this workshop?
The IBM skills workshops form one part of IBM’s commitment to the communities within which they live and work. IBM is fortunate to have large numbers of highly motivated, intelligent and capable people, along with insights and knowledge and other resources that, appropriately applied, can benefit not just large commercial and government organisations able to pay for them, but our schools, charities and individuals too.
The IBM skills workshops are targeted at staff, committee members or volunteers from small to medium sized charities. The content of each of the one day workshops is based on quality resources that have been thoroughly tried and tested with charities. The Workshops are delivered by teams of IBM volunteers, some of whom are subject matter experts in the topics – but all of whom are very approachable and committed to ensuring that you get the most out of your day. We pride ourselves on having highly professional but very approachable teams running the Workshops.
Our Workshops very deliberately have a high level of staffing so that there are plenty of people on hand who can work with participants in small groups or individually, so that you get personal and intensive coaching and support.

introduction to project management
How many times have you had a good idea that has either failed to become a reality or, if it has, has not been delivered to everyone’s expectations? Sometimes the idea is not a great one – but more frequently the idea is great but it has not been thought through and executed very well.
The workshop will introduce participants to the basic principles and concepts of project management. The IBM team will take attendees through a series of structured activities – some in plenary, some in small groups, designed to explain why project management is a vital skill, when to use it. You’ll understand why some projects fail – and how you can minimise the risk of this happening. Participants will have an opportunity to think about how to apply a project management approach to a real project of their own, with step by step support from some of IBM’s most experienced project managers.
