Independent Examination (IE) is an alternative to full audit for the end of year accounts of small charities. ACIE provides information and advice to people who carry out Independent Examination and to charities. Membership is open to all. There is an accredited form of membership, including a level which allows its holders to work with the larger charities eligible for IE. 

 

Charities Evaluation Services (CES) is the UK’s leading provider of support to the voluntary sector on monitoring and evaluation and quality. CES provide low-cost training in monitoring and evaluation and in quality systems. Their website includes a lot of information which can be downloaded free of charge.

 

Charity Trustee Networks (CTN) is the national charity for trustees and management committee members.  Our vision is of positive, effective trustees governing voluntary and community sector organisations and our aim is to support them in becoming more competent and confident in their role as trustee.

How2fundraise is the most comprehensive, free online resource for the UK's 16 million volunteer fundraisers, from the Institute of Fundraising.

 

 

Intelligent Giving is a donor-advisory website that profiles UK charities, and rates them according to their transparency. It also advises charities about how to become more effective and provides donors with free guidance about how to give to charity.

 

KnowHow NonProfit is a new website built solely for the nonprofit community. It is completely free, easy to use and packed with practical information and resources, as well as being a place where you can communicate with others working in the nonprofit sector.

 

LawWorks aims to provide free legal help to charities who cannot afford to pay for it and who are unable to access legal aid.

 

 

Media Trust harnesses the skills, resources and creativity of the media and communications industry to help charities and voluntary organisations make a difference to people’s lives.

 

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) is the largest umbrella body for the voluntary and community sector in England offering advice, support and a range of value-for-money benefits. They also have a useful information section specifically for small organisations.
