Quest4Change & Mathew Gilbert
Heather Rayment was the Fundraising & Development Manager at Quest4Change. Quest4Change works with partner organisations on projects in Africa and South America to fight poverty and the destruction of the environment. Heather approached the Small Charities Coalition because she lacked the confidence in writing funding bids and wanted to chat to a fellow small charity that had had some successes. Heather was soon matched with Mathew Gilbert of the Woodford Foundation. We caught up with her after a few months and she had this to say:
I got to learn from Mathew’s considerable expertise on writing applications to Trusts and Foundations. His advice was very specific and as a result invaluable.
We initially spoke on the phone for well over an hour about what I was working on. Then I sent through the work I had done so far and Mathew then e-mailed me back with his thoughts and advice.
The Small Charities Coalition is an invaluable resource. It is so useful to have someone else working in the same sector share their experience and knowledge with you. It gives you more faith in your own work and ability.
Mathew also had high praise for the service:
I think that it is an excellent scheme as it helps to share skills and experience between like thinking organisations and people.
