Communications Coordinator - Campaign Bootcamp




Campaign Bootcamp are a charity dedicated to ensuring that people most impacted by injustice are leading campaigns that affect their lives, from better housing to fairer treatment of migrants to LGBTQ+ rights. Their mission is to support people to run effective campaigns that challenge injustice. They do this by running campaign training programmes that help people develop the skills, confidence and community to change things that matter to them. In their trainings, they prioritise people from communities directly impacted by injustice.


The role


Supporting teams and programmes across the organisation with communications needs

Coordinating digital content, including monitoring and reporting on engagement

Coordinating communications with programme participants and alumni


Job Responsibilities


Coordinating digital content, including monitoring and reporting on engagement

  • Coordinating maintenance of the website, including monitoring and improving SEO and accessibility of the website

  • Coordinating the digital content creation process, including writing, sourcing, commissioning and editing content for newsletter, blog and website (including video/audio content)

  • Supporting the Programmes Coordinator to write and implement a social media strategy and manage channels

  • Monitoring and reporting on engagement across all communications platforms

Coordinating communications with programme participants and alumni

  • Supporting with coordinating communications and programming for training programmes and alumni programmes, including the annual Community Conference

  • Coordinating management of the Facebook community group

  • Support community members to take part in blog interviews and create content for the blog and social media platforms

  • Supporting the Head of Training, Training Manager, and wider training team with updating training materials, including online resources

General responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain work plans for the roles responsibilities and objectives

  • Work in a sustainable manner with consideration of the natural environment

  • External customer service: answer the general Campaign Bootcamp phone via CircleLoop and emails relating to fundraising via the charities inbox

  • Any other reasonable tasks as directed by your line manager

  • At all times adhere to relevant legislation including GDPR

  • At all times take personal responsibility for exhibiting behaviours in line with the person specification and the values of Campaign Bootcamp


Person Specification


Experience


Essential


Experience in coordinating communications in a professional and/or public-facing context - Experience in using social media, including scheduling and monitoring tools

Experience in designing communications materials for use on digital platforms

Experience in newsletter writing and using other communication tools and platforms, including blogs and emails

Experience using email marketing software such as Mailchimp

Experience working within communities impacted by injustice, including low-income/working class people, people of colour, disabled people, migrants and LGBTQ+ people. We are seeking someone who has experience working within these communities either through campaigning or other types of work.


Desirable


Experience in designing and/or implementing a communications strategy

Experience using digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud

Experience using CRM software such as Salesforce


Skills


Essential


Strong writing skills, preferably for large external audiences

Able to communicate clearly and appropriately with different people on multiple communication channels

Able to work effectively under pressure

Able to work well in a team and with the line manager and to work well with colleagues and community members

Able to work independently, to plan and manage own workload

Able to solve problems, someone who is proactive in coming up with solutions to the issues that present themselves

Aware of how systemic injustice operates in our society (i.e. economic inequality, racism and heterosexism) and excited to explore how best to confront these issues in the workplace

Job title: Communications Coordinator

Contract type: Fixed term for 18 months

Starting date: February 2021 (interviews to be conducted on 7th or 8th January)

Hours of work: 0.8-1.0 FTE (equivalent to 30 - 37.5 hours per week)

Location: Anywhere in the UK

Salary: £25,225-£26,507 FTE pro rata depending on experience (plus an additional London weighting of £3,567 for those living in London)

Benefits: 5% employer pension contribution, 28 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays and additional closure days in December

Reporting to: Alumni and Communications Manager
